Puling Fm
Type Locality and Naming
Southernmost Anhui. The Puling Fm was named by Xia Bangdong et al. in 1962. The typical section is situated in Puling village west of Qimem County, Anhui Province. Upper formation in Likou Gr.
Synonym: (铺岭组)
Lithology and Thickness
The Puling Fm is composed of greenish gray phyllitic andesitic tuff interbedded with amygdaloidal meta-andesite, locally with copper-mineralization zones. The thickness is about 112 m.
Relationships and Distribution
Lower contact
It rests unconformably on the underlying Dengjia Fm
Upper contact
The upper part underlies unconformably the overlying Xiuning or Xiaoanli formations.
Regional extent
Southernmost Anhui. In the juncture of Anhui and Zhejiang Province (Tunxi to Kaihua).
Strata corresponding to the Puling Formation were named as the Jingtan Formation by the Anhui Party of Regional Geological Survey, 1971, which are dominated by intermediate to acidic volcanic rock and tuff.
